Job Summary

The Financial Paraplanner is an entry-level position that provides technical support for the Financial Planners and Financial Advisors. This position will also entail some administrative duties, particularly during tax season.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Financial Paraplanner can expect to focus in the following areas:
• Assist our planners and advisors with the Building Ideal Futures ProcessTM to ensure client financial needs are addressed
• Meet with clients/potential clients, to obtain information necessary to develop and complete a financial plan or other various financial analyses
• Gather, organize and synthesize client data and review client financial statements, tax returns, estate planning documents and all other information necessary to develop a financial plan or other various analyses
• Prepare various financial planning analyses for review by supervisors (i.e., tax analyses, social security analyses, insurance analyses, stock option analyses, Roth conversion analyses, pension analyses, etc.)
• Prepare data for Retirement Planning Workshops using Money Guide Pro (or other software). May also present findings to clients with advisor supervision.
• Assist with the development of financial plans and suggest alternative options and recommendations for review by supervisors and advisors
• Bind final financial plans and analyses for presentation to client
• Gather information for updated financial plans and analyses as requested
• Assist with documenting policies and procedures for the development of financial plans and other department related workflows
• Utilize various financial analysis programs to produce requested results sought by a planner and/or advisor
• Conduct special and routine investment/portfolio or planning research projects, as requested by supervisors
• Research and calculate client cost basis
• Assist with the preparation of income tax returns, as required
• Assist with the administrative side of tax season, including pre- and post-tax season activities, such as: printing and mailing tax organizers; assisting with data gathering and scanning of tax return source documents; printing and assembling final tax return packets; mailing finished product to clients; and assisting with other tax season administrative matters as needed
• Perform other duties as requested
• Maintain team approach by assisting and filling in for others

The Financial Paraplanner position typically requires the following qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university, preferably with a CFP program
• 1-3 years successful work experience
• Proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook
• Strong analytical and planning capabilities
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
• Excellent communication and listening skills
• Client first attitude
• Team player, collaborative, able to work with and through others
